1. What is the difference between a light truck tire and an SUV tire? There is very little difference between a light truck tire and an SUV tire. In fact in most respects they are the same tire however some SUV modeled tires are designed to give a car like ride as apposed to a rougher truck ride. When replacing SUV tires consideration should be given to what type of use will the vehicle be used for not just that the tires state they are made for SUVs? Factors such as what type of terrain and load conditions will be encountered? Is ride comfort the more important than durability? The answer to those questions will better distinguish which tire model is best for your application.

Ride comfort is a valid consideration, however safety should be the main factor of your tire purchase decision. Let us keep in mind that an SUV is basically a light truck designed to carry more people. If you fill the seats with passengers and then load up the cargo area you may be exceeding the load carrying capacity of the tires. If there is a chance of doing this it should be considered before you make a buying decision. Overloading is not only potentially dangerous however could result in premature or irregular wear of the tires.
