Keeping
Your Vehicle Properly Aligned
Alignment
is one service most vehicle owners seem to neglect yet is
one of the most important adjustments to ensure longer tire
life. Alignment, in simple terms, is ensuring that your vehicles
tires are all adjusted to travel in the right direction.
Proper alignment is essential for optimum performance as well.
When the wheels on a vehicle don't all agree on which direction
to travel, they fight each other with every revolution. Tires
wear more quickly, handling and stability are compromised, and
fuel economy suffers.
Some common adjustments for alignment are caster, camber and
toe-in/out.

Misalignment
in the front or rear, improperly operating brakes or shock
absorbers, bent wheels, worn bushings, and any other mechanical
problems can cause uneven and rapid treadwear. Each of these
situations should be corrected immediately by a certified professional.
Front-wheel-drive vehicles and those with independent rear suspensions
require special attention, and should be checked periodically.
A bad jolt, such as hitting a pothole, can throw your vehicle out
of alignment. Such an impact can also bend the rim, causing a loss
of air pressure and damage to your tires with little or no visible
evidence present.
